In Greek mythology, Demeter is the harvest goddess that overseas the preserving and harvesting of Nature’s offerings.

I collected the flowers, leaves, and seeds for this piece this past fall. You will find beautiful anemones, zinnias, magical ginkgo leaves and wildflowers surrounding Demeter as she dances under the crescent moon. The moon is shedding seed pods and the zinnias are releasing their seeded petals into the winds, the earth, and the sleep of winter. The cycle of life. Reciprocity.

I hope this scene inspires you to connect with the natural world and listen to the sweetness it has to whisper in your ear. At the very least, let it bring you hope of what is to come, because there will always be Spring.

This piece is part of the Folklore & Fairytale Exhibit at Daylght Artist Collective in Westerville Ohio. The exhibit runs from 9/8/24 through 10/13/24.
